Ladybug Studios is a community-based clay studio in the heart of Southwest Detroit, located at 1250 Hubbard in the garden level of the beautifully restored Whitdel building. Our goal is to provide a fun, engaging space for neighborhood residents and ceramic artists to enjoy clay, working and learning together side-by-side.
Ladybug will be holds regular, monthly drop-in class. At these free (donation-based) classes led by Ladybug members, people of all ages are welcome to try the potter’s wheel or the project of the day, first come – first served. Participants get to decorate their projects which are fired for pick-up at a later date. Bowls are also be available for the public to paint for the upcoming “Empty Bowls” event to support Go-Getters Homeless Drop-in Center, located several blocks from our studio.
“We’re lucky to have people on-board who love clay and love sharing clay with others, and we’re thrilled to see more and more kids and families finding their way to our space,”
Ladybug Studios President Byron Nemela.
