The Media Lab is a component of CAID housed @ Whitdel Arts Gallery in SW Detroit. We provide an environment to explore media creations, artifacts and technologies, their design, development and the effect they have on art and our society.
Our work is created by the broad collaboration of very talented individuals from a variety of disciplines and cultures, with international partnerships.
The CAID media Lab provides resources and expertise to members to participate in developing digital and physical art that connects the traditional arts and multimedia communities to explore, discuss, and push the limits for the advancement of multimedia science and technology through the arts, and traditional arts through multimedia science and technology.
The purpose of the lab is to explore the creation of new media art. New media art is a genre that encompasses artworks created with new media technologies, including digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, computer robotics, and biotechnology as art.
Our current projects include brain computer interaction, digital illusions, gesture control , and we are hosts to the first Detroit Interactive Arts Exhibition.
