Join the CAID There are advantages to becoming a member
We have simplified our membership.
There is basically only one membership level with annual dues of $12 per year. For a limited time we are also offering an opportunity to become a lifetime member with a onetime fee of $240. As a lifetime member you will never receive a membership renewal notice again for the remainder of your life. You will receive a lifetime membership card and your name will appear on a special page of our website dedicated to lifetime members. Eventually, all members will receive their own unique profile page on our site and will be able to vote for member candidates to the CAID board of directors.
We have established a new fund that will provide grants and low interest loans to artists. The Hugh Timlin Memorial Fund will provide low interest loans to artists for such things as materials and supplies, housing and transportation expenses, band tours, recording an album, equipment and more. We have various levels of support for this fund. We will begin offering the loans once the fund has reached $5000.00. As an Art Nut ($25) you will receive a walnut sculpted by a squirrel and found carefully stored in Hugh Timlin's studio. As a Fieldstone ($75) sponsor you will receive a small fieldstone from Hugh Timlin's small farm, Shepherdswork. More information about Shepherdswork can be found at http://www.shepherdswork.org. Limestone ($125) sponsors will receive a small cut of limestone that was removed by Hugh Timlin during the carving of his limestone sculptures. Shepherds ($225) will sponsor all levels and receive the walnut, the fieldstone and the limestone.
Yelper Sara "Lady Fantastic" A. says, "Located on Rosa Parks Blvd, in the most unassuming little building the CAID is one of Detroit's freshest and innovative art spaces. If you're not really looking, I mean really looking for this joint, you'll drive by it a million and one times. The small sign proclaiming its name it's difficult to see, so be prepared.
I've been to the CAID a number of times and am always impressed. The art shows have featured some of Metro Detroit's finest upcoming artists from photographs to sculptors to painters. You just never know what you're gonna get here and that's what I like..." More Yelps...
